Bullhead City is located in Arizona's west-central Mohave County, on the east bank of the Colorado River near the juncture of Arizona, California and Nevada. It is the sister city to the popular gaming community of Laughlin, Nevada. Bullhead City is a rapidly growing community nestled along the beautiful blue waters of the Colorado River.

Bullhead was founded by William Harrison Hardy in the 1860s, when it was known as Hardyville. Hardy was a county supervisor, postmaster and a member of Territorial Legislature during his life. The name Bullhead City comes from "Bull’s Head Rock", a natural landmark used by paddleboat captains in the 1800s.

As the waters rose behind Davis Dam, creating Lake Mohave, Bull's Head Rock was gradually covered, with only a small, undistinguishable part of it remaining uncovered.

More than 5 million people travel through Bullhead City annually. The year-round sunshine makes it perfect for families, retirees and vacationers looking to escape the winter cold.

Bullhead City has vast water recreation opportunities on the Colorado River and Lake Mohave. You can take an exciting spin on a personal watercraft, or a leisurely cruise aboard your choice of several Colorado River tour boats. You can also rent a patio boat, houseboat, powerboat, canoe or kyaak and chart your own course on the warm, clear waters of Lake Mohave or the cool, flowing Colorado River.

Other activities include golf, bird watching, camping, hiking, off-road vehicle sports, hunting, exploring ghost towns, rockhounding, and prospecting in the neighboring desert. Gambling in Laughlin, across the river, is also a major attraction of the area.

The Colorado River and nearby Lake Mohave boast some fo the nation's best sportfishing. For more than 15 years the area held a world record for the largest freshwater striped bass ever caught! Seasoned fishing guides can take you where the fish really are for Largemouth and Striped Bass, Trout, Crappie, Catfish and Sunfish.

There is so much to do here and affordable accommodations await. Select from over 12,000 hotel and motel rooms, or bring your RV and choose from thousands of full-hook-up campsites. You can even camp right at the water's edge.

Plan a visit to relax and enjoy the clean air, cool water, great weather, unspoiled desert landscape and amazing sunsets. After a visit, many people choose to live here!
